The Russian Federation has opened up opportunities for intending travelers that wish to visit the country. On July 1st, 2019, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the introduction of an electronic visas for the specific Russian regions: the Kaliningrad Visa and the St Petersburg Leningrad Visa.

The E-visa for these regions is available through an online application. Belgian citizens are eligible to apply for both the Kaliningrad and St Petersburg eVisas. This type of Russian visa grants the holder a total stay of eight (8) days and is valid for thirty (30) days.

It’s worth noting that none of the available E-visas translates to direct access to all of the Russian Federation. Instead, travelers need to apply for the E-visa for the region they wish to visit. Also, they’re issued the visa if the reasons for their travels fall into specific categories, such as business and tourism.

  • A Current Valid Passport: This is one of the essential requirements for the Russian visa for Belgian citizens. The registration and processing can be done completely online, however, you still need to present a valid passport to confirm your identity upon arrival in any of the regions. It’s worth noting that the passport should be valid for at least six (6) months from the date of arrival into the Kaliningrad Oblast Region, the East Far Regions, and St. Petersburg and Leningrad. How To Apply for a Russian eVisa from Belgium

Provided the requirements mentioned above are met, Belgian nationals can begin with their application process for the region in Russia they wish to visit. Applicants can follow these steps to get their online visa to travel to Russia:

  • Fill Out the Online Application – travelers should complete the online application with their details, passport information, and date of expected entry. Travelers must provide a valid email address where the notification about the status of the visa will be sent to.
  • Pay the eVisa fee – Applicants must pay a fee before submitting their application.

Once the application has been submitted, it will be processed and reviewed. If it is approved, the traveler will receive an email notification about the status of their online visa. Travelers should take into consideration that it may take between 2 to 4 business days for the application to be processed. Though it is not mandatory, applicants are advised to print a copy of their approved Russia eVisa before heading to their destination.
