Indian citizens intending to travel to the Russian Federation will need to apply for and obtain a visa to enter the Russian country. There are two different types of visas that an Indian citizen can apply for depending on which part of Russia they will be visiting.

One of the quickest and easiest visas to obtain for Russia is the eVisa. An eVisa is an electronic visa that can be applied for online in minutes and only takes 4 days to process. Russia eVisas allow eligible foreign travelers to visit specific Russian regions for short stays.

Types of Russian eVisa for Indian Citizens

Most visitors will need to visit a Russian embassy or consulate in order to apply for a Russian tourist visa. However, it is now possible to obtain Russian electronic visas for three regions online. The areas that can be entered with an online Russian visa are:

When filling in the online application form, Indian citizens are required to select the eVisa for the specific Russian region that they intend to visit. It will take around 2 to 4 days to process each electronic visa. Upon receiving the visa, travelers will be able to travel to the Far Eastern regions, St Petersburg, or Kaliningrad Oblast; however, they will have to exit Russia from a port of entry of the same region they entered from.

Far East Visa for Indian citizens

Permits travel to regions in the Russian Far East for Indian citizens for tourism, business, or humanitarian purposes. Allows a maximum stay of 8 days in Far Eastern territories, is valid for 30 days of the date of issue.

Allows entry to the St Petersburg and Leningrad region for tourism, business, or humanitarian purposes. Allows a maximum stay of 8 days in the area and is valid for 30 days from the date of issue.

HOW TO APPLY FOR A RUSSIA EVISA FROM INDIA?

Indian citizens can apply for electronic visas for Russia online from anywhere in the world — as long as they have access to a reliable internet connection.

The online application is designed to only take minutes. The applicant needs to:

  • Fill out the eVisa application form in all its parts as accurately as possible
  • Upload copies of the necessary documents, including their valid Indian passport
  • Pay the application fee with a credit or debit card

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET A VISA FOR RUSSIA FROM INDIA?

After the traveler has submitted the entire online application they can expect to hear back on the status of their application within 2 to 4 business days. In rare cases, it is possible that the processing of the traveler’s Russian visa application takes longer, especially if there is additional processing required.
