Russia E-visa for Latvian Citizens

Apply E-visa for Latvian

Latvian citizens looking to travel to Russia for tourism now have more options for obtaining a visa. The Russian government has recently introduced a new online process meant to simplify the visa applications for travelers planning to stay in specific regions of Russia for a limited time — the electronic visa or eVisa.

There are currently three types of online visas depending on what area the visitor intends to enter: Kaliningrad Oblast, St Petersburg and Leningrad, and the Far East regions. Each of these visas is available to a limited number of eligible countries.

For all other regions of Russia, travelers will still need to go in-person to a Russian embassy or consulate and apply for a traditional visa.  The electronic visa allows travelers to visit Russia for tourism or business purposes for up to 8 days, although the validity is of 30 days from the date of approval.

E-visa Types for Latvian Citizens

All eVisa types are available to Latvian tourists. However, Latvians traveling to any other region of Russia will need to apply for a traditional visa at the embassy or consulate.

The eVisa allows travelers to avoid paper applications and avoid the queue at the embassy and instead apply complete the application online from anywhere in the world. The application form can be submitted up to 4 days prior to departure and the visa is sent via email.

Furthermore, any required documents can even be submitted at a later stage, provided that it is still 4 days prior to the trip. With the eVisa, Latvian citizens are allowed a single entry into the applicable region of Russia for tourism, business, humanitarian reasons, and more.

The following are the specific requirements and entry points for the three eVisa types available to Latvian citizens:
