Do Dutch Citizens Need a Visa for Russia?

Dutch citizens intending to travel to the Russian Federation will need to obtain a visa to enter the Russian country. There are 3 different types of visas for short-term stays that a Dutch citizen can apply for.

Most visitors will need to visit a Russian embassy or consulate in order to apply for a traditional Russian tourist visa. However, it is now possible for Dutch tourists to obtain Russian electronic visas for 2 regions online. The areas that can be entered with an online Russian visa are:

When filling in the online application form, Dutch nationals are required to select the eVisa for the specific Russian region that they intend to visit. It will take around 2 to 4 days to process each electronic visa.

Upon receiving the visa, travelers will be able to travel to St Petersburg and Leningrad region or Kaliningrad Oblast; however, they will have to exit Russia from a port of entry of the same region they entered from.

Allows Dutch citizens to travel to the Kaliningrad exclave for tourism, business, or humanitarian purposes. Allows a maximum stay of 8 days in Kaliningrad and is valid for 30 days from the date of issue.

The online application is designed to only take minutes. The applicant needs to:

  • Fill out the eVisa application form in all its parts as accurately as possible
  • Upload copies of the necessary documents, including their valid Dutch passport
  • Pay the application fee with a credit or debit card

How Long does it Take to Get a Visa for Russia from the Netherlands?

After the traveler has submitted the entire online application they can expect to hear back on the status of their application within 2 to 4 business days. In rare cases, it is possible that the processing of the traveler’s Russian visa application takes longer, especially if there is additional processing required.
