How to Apply for Russian E-visa from Romania

Applying for a Russian electronic visa is quick and simple. Thanks to the new initiative, tourists can apply for a Russian eVisa from Romania – even from the comfort of their own home. There is no need to visit an embassy, gather visa paperwork, or have an interview with an immigration officer. Everything is done through the internet.

The first step to obtain any of the electronic visas is to begin an online application.  The application takes less than one hour to complete and is simple and straightforward.

The applicant will be asked basic questions such as:

  • Their full name (first and last name)
  • Passport information (date of issue and expiration, nationality, passport number)
  • Contact information (email, address, phone number)
  • Travel plans

At the end of the form, travelers will need to upload a clear and colorized photo of themselves, looking straight at the camera and without anything covering their face. Afterwards, they must pay the application fee and wait for an email stating the result of their Russian visa.

The average processing time of a Russian eVisa is usually within 2 to 4 business days, although in rare cases it may take longer than expected, especially if there are public holidays or if additional paperwork is required.

Please note that you can apply for any type of Russian eVisa within 20 days before your visit, but not less than four days before your expected date of arrival in Russia.

FAQ’s About Online Visa for Romanian Citizens

The new eVisas for Russia are the fastest and easiest way to enter the Russian territory for tourism, business, and humanitarian purposes. They are intended for short-term stays only.

The Russian electronic visa is a single-entry visa. This means that Romanian eVisa holders can only enter Russia once with the same permit. Once they leave, they will need to apply for a new eVisa (or other relevant permit) in order to obtain entry into Russian territory again.

However, Romanians are welcome to apply for and obtain as many eVisas as they wish as long as they comply with all the visa requirements.

How and where to apply for a visa for Russia depends largely on the type of visa one wants to obtain. Fortunately, Romanian passport holders are eligible for both offline and online Russian visas.

Most visas require Romanian citizens to visit their nearest Russian embassy or consulate in person in order to lodge a paper visa application. This may be an inconvenient process.

Fortunately, Romanian travelers can now apply for all 3 types of electronic visas online. The application can be completed from anywhere in the world, including the applicant’s home or office. All Romanian nationals need is a reliable internet connection, minimal supporting documentation (like their valid passport), and a debit or credit card.
