The Russian Federation has launched three types of electronic visas recently in order to simplify travel to specific regions. Russia now offers separate online visas to the Kaliningrad region and St. Petersburg and Leningrad. By implementing these visas, the Foreign Ministry hopes to attract more foreign visitors. Swedish citizens are eligible to apply to two of the available visas; the Kaliningrad Visa and the St. Petersburg Visa.

Swedish nationals are able to obtain their online visa in a short period of time. They are simply required to complete an online application.

Russian E-Visa Requirements for Swedish Citizens

Swedish travelers that want to visit Russia must apply for the respective online visa. They also need to meet a few basic requirements to get their electronic visa successfully. The Russian eVisa for Swedish citizens grants a stay of eight (8) days. The eVisas are valid for a period of 30 consecutive days from the day they are issued.
The Russian eVisa requirements for Swedish citizens include the following:

  • A valid passport – Swedish applicants should have a passport. It must be valid for at least six months from the expected date of arrival in Russia. An empty page on the passport is necessary to receive stamps at the port of entry.
  • A digital photo – When applying for an online visa for any of the Russian regions, the applicant will need to upload a recent digital photo, in color. However, this can be done at a later stage of your application.
  • A debit or credit card – This is a requirement, as all applicants must pay a fee before submitting the application.
  • An email address – Each applicant should provide a valid email address. Once the eVisa is approved, the applicant will be notified via email.

Once the applicant has completed the online form and paid the fee, they can submit the application. It will take between 2 to 4 business days to process the application.
Applicants should keep in mind that they will be expected to indicate their expected port of entry on the application.

Valid for travel to the Kaliningrad exclave for tourism, business, or humanitarian purposes. Allows a maximum stay of 8 days in Kaliningrad and is valid for 30 days from the date of issue.

How to Apply for Russian eVisa from Sweden

Swedish tourists and business travelers can now apply for the Kaliningrad and St. Petersburg eVisa from Sweden in a few minutes. All there is to do is to fill out the online application form ensuring that they meet all the requirements listed above.

When completing the online form, Swedish applicants should provide their full name, date of birth, sex, citizenship, and passport number and issuing and expiration dates. They should indicate their intended port of entry in Russia. Travelers are advised to revise their application before submitting it.

When the applicant receives their Russian eVisa they can print a copy of the approved document in case they are asked to present it upon arrival in Russia.
